Self-Portrait: Pomegranate, (2015)
This work came from my ephemeral solo show entitled “Fresh Rimon (Pomegranates)”. Pomegranates are a Hebraic symbol for righteousness because the pomegranate is fabled to hold 613 seeds, the same number of laws a Jewish person must follow in order to seek righteousness.
As I try to hold onto more seeds, others fall out. It’s a cyclical pattern of striving and then failing.
